The ground floor of this newly opened museum in the former Skogster Department Store has a small theatrette where an excellent short film about the history of Hämeenlinna is shown in a number of languages, including English. Entry to the museum's ground floor is free, but you'll need a ticket to visit the temporary exhibitions in the upstairs space.
