THE MOST NORTHERNMOST ZOO IN THE WORLD – RANUA
The zoo is approximately 1 hour south of Rovaniemi by car. Upon arrival, you will take a stroll through the zoo, where you can see the interesting animals and birds that live at the "top of the world!!". At the Ranua Wildlife Park you can see polar bears, as well as 50 different other arctic animal species in the midst of northern woods.
Ranua, located in the subarctic region boasts of four clearly different seasons: winters are long with heavy snow loads, summers brief with light nights, autumns colourful and spring-times short and intensive. The Ranua Wildlife Park offers a variety of experiences for every season: you can see how the various arctic species have adapted into the changing seasons, in their most authentic atmosphere – in the midst of wide Northern forests.
You will be able to dine in the cozy restaurant, visit all kinds of souvenir shops including the Fazer candy/chocolate shop and the wine shop, where they sell unique wines made from wild berries found locally, such as cloudberries, lingonberries and bilberries.
