If you want to experience the cultural heritage of Rovaniemi at its best then nothing like this 8-day tour across the best of Lapland. From sightseeing to visiting pristine Lappish nature in absolute wilderness, you can see and experience plenty of things from close quarters. With a visit to the Arktikum Museum, you will get to know about the fragile Arctic life at length.

A visit to the Pisavaara Nature Park and a stay in the traditional lodge will take you closest to the pristine nature of Lapland. Among others, a visit to the Santa Claus Village, Ranua Wildlife Park, Marttiini Factory, Reindeer Farm, and Kangasniemi’s Horn Workshop will present you with the best of the Arctic region in Rovaniemi and leave you spellbound. Day 1 - Airport Pickup, Transfer to NUT Office

Our guide will receive you at the airport and transfer you to the NUT safari office in the Rovaniemi city where you will receive the latest info about the Northern Lights and the holiday package. Further, you will settle into your accommodation in Rovaniemi city center.

Day 2 - Sightseeing, Arktikum Museum

The day starts with an introduction to Rovaniemi – the capital of Lapland. Then you go for a sightseeing tour of the city in a minibus. You also get to visit the main church in the city center. This is followed by a visit to the Arktikum Museum. Arktikum is the provincial museum of Lapland full of interesting exhibitions. It is here that you also get an introduction to the Sami culture and Lappish way of life.

Day 3 - Pisavaara Nature Park, Wilderness Lodge, Traditional Meal

Today we travel to the wilderness of Lapland. The nature of Lapland. Today we make a trip to the wilderness. We pass the Pisavaara nature park – the most strict nature reserve in Finland. Our destination is a wilderness lodge in the forest where we will be served a traditional country meal for lunch. It is a great opportunity to see wild animals and beautiful nature.

Day 4 - Arctic Circle, Santa Claus Village, Pilke Science Centre

It is the day of the Arctic Circle crossing and Santa Claus Village. Today, we cross the Arctic Circle and get a certificate of crossing. We have an opportunity to meet Santa Claus himself. You can send postcards to your friends and family from Santa’s Post Office. Lunch will be arranged in the village premises. Here, you have a good possibility to buy handmade souvenirs. We also visited the Pilke Science Centre and learned all about forests in Lapland.

Day 5 - Ranua Zoo

Day 5 is dedicated exclusively to the wildlife of Lapland. Today, we go on a trip to the arctic zoo of Ranua. The wildlife park is an introduction to the wild animals living in Lapland. During the day you will get to see brown bears, lynxes, wolves, gluttons, golden eagles, reindeer, moose, and polar bears in the park. The lunch will be served in a restaurant in the zoo.

Day 6 - Marttiini Old Knife Factory, Kangasniemi’s Horn Workshop

It’s a day of exploring handicrafts in Lapland. First, we visit Marttiini’s old knife factory. The building of the Marttiini Old Factory forms an essential part of the history of Rovaniemi City. In the afternoon we visit Kangasniemi’s horn workshop.

The folk living along the Ounasjoki River have always been good with their hands and cherish old traditions. They make a variety of utensils and decorative items from natural materials, which you can buy from our workshop for your enjoyment, or as a Lappish gift. They manufacture traditional Lappish knives, drums, spoons, salt cellars sugar bowls, and jewelry.

Day 7 - Reindeer Farm

Today, we go to visit a traditional reindeer. Programs at the farm vary throughout the year. See an authentic reindeer farm and discuss wilderness life and reindeer herding with local people. This farm has herded reindeer for generations. It is here that you truly feel the spirit of the distinguished Lappish culture. Later in the afternoon, you can go shopping in the city of Rovaniemi.

Day 8 - Airport Transfer

Finally, on day 8 you will be dropped back at the airport for your journey back home.

Local transfers, trips, guiding, winter adventure gear, and tickets are included. The trips are arranged daily after breakfast and they last 4 – 6 hours.
